James Bates

James Bates was awarded the Major Henry Scholarship in 1985 and worked closely with the British Council in Stockholm. Since the summer of 2016, James has worked exclusively with Rebecka Eriksson in a series of projects. These projects involve a process that combines painting, photography and textile work to create 'paintings' with a high degree of texture, complexity and originality. Their joint work has already received both critical and public attention. Rebecka Eriksson, from Örebro, has a background as a sister and graphic artist.
