Yvonne Swahn's artistry moves in a world of thought that most closely resembles the realm of poetry. This inner approach has always been a present force, and it is from this energy that her art takes shape. Her creation revolves around human existence and serves as a tool to articulate insights and experiences.
In Swahn's art, a dialogue arises between her and the image surface, an alternating game of creation and reception. Her endeavor is to capture the fleeting thought and visualize the relationship between the visible and the invisible, presence and absence. By giving time and space to the process, there are moments where the work seems lost, and Swahn is forced to start over. For her, this is often a necessary condition to be able to continue and complete the work. By destroying the image, it gets the opportunity to re-emerge, perhaps in a changed, but even more expressive form.
Yvonne Swahn's art thus becomes a journey into the impermanent, where destruction becomes part of the creation process and where the artwork becomes a companion through her reflections on time and existence.
