Collection: Joakim Johansson

He has chosen to follow the long self-taught path, with the advantage of being able to go his own way, to be self-willed and uninfluenced by others. However, this does not prevent him from simultaneously being part of a realistic wave that is sweeping across Europe, i.a. The Leipzig school with representatives such as Tim Eitel. Joakim has had no real role models.

It is only in recent years that he has found artists he appreciates, and perhaps feels a kinship with. An example is Eric Fischl with his image projects. Joakim usually says that he hasn't really reflected on how he paints, whether it's super-realistic, realistic or something else. This is just his way of portraying the outside world and his thoughts without any complications.
