Collection: Joakim Johansson

Joakim Johansson has chosen to follow the long and self-taught path, which gives him the freedom to follow his own path and be self-willed without outside influence. At the same time, he is part of the realist movement sweeping Europe, with associations with movements such as the Leipzig School, where artists such as Tim Eitel are prominent. Joakim mentions that he has had no real role models in his artistry.

It is only in recent years that he has found artists that he really appreciates and feels a kinship with. One such example is Eric Fischl and his image project. Joakim expresses that he doesn't really reflect on the specific style he uses - be it superrealism, realism or something else. For him, it's just about portraying the outside world and his thoughts without unnecessary complication.

Joakim Johansson creates art that is a direct and honest reflection of his inner world and perception of his surroundings.
