Collection: Jan Stenmark

He is one of the country's most well-known Swedish cartoonists and visual artists. Stenmark creates with his own collage technique. He works with satire and builds his images from newspaper clippings from the 1940s to the 1960s, processed with ink and combined with ironic comments. He has published several books and has regularly appeared in Swedish newspapers. With his seemingly simple collage technique, Jan has created a unique position on the Swedish art scene for almost 40 years. The seemingly simple in his pictures often contains several layers. The feelings evoked when looking at his pictures can be slightly conflicting. And although the images are not always politically correct, they often hit the spot. Perhaps that is precisely why it is so liberating to step into Jan Stenmark's world. You are not alone.
