The Magic of Watercolor in the Landscape of Diversity

Marie Gauthier, an artist with roots in Värmland, draws her artistic impulses from the most multifaceted places. From the magical Värmland forest to the dramatic landscapes of the Faroe Islands and the ruins of a Mediterranean village, she has found her subjects. With an artistic career spanning 35 years, Marie has worked with the watercolor technique and participated in art exhibitions both locally and internationally since the 1980s.

A dream-like quality vibrates in her atmospheric watercolors. The images open the door to the viewer's imagination, and Marie herself describes her works as somewhere between the concrete and the abstract. In her art, the subject is rarely at the center; instead, art becomes a medium for conveying impressions, where experience weighs more heavily than reproducing reality. Marie Gauthier creates art that carries the magic of watercolors, captivating the viewer and inviting them on a journey through a varied and diverse world of landscapes.
