Collection: Karl Mårtens

Since childhood, Karl Mårtens has had a passion for nature studies, especially birds. Drawing and painting birds has been an artistic exploration that has followed him over the years, evolving from detailed studies to a more free and expressive style. The basis for Karl's unique painting style draws inspiration from deep forms of meditation within Zen Buddhism.

Karl creates his bird portraits without any direct models and uses watercolor paint and charcoal chalk on handmade paper. The process is an artistic meditation where, inspired by the changing expressions of nature and the personalities of the birds, he lets his own interpretations and feelings flow freely through the brush.

Discover Karl's world of birds, captured in moments of expression and posture, where each painting bears the artist's unique view of the beauty of nature and the art of observation.
