Collection: Sheyda Sabokbar

"The three elements, earth, water and fire are primary in my creation - without them I am nothing. These are also the basis of the ancient Persian religion, Zoroastrianism. The material in my paintings consists of acrylic and of different textures. When I paint layer upon layer and watch the image emerge with colors that stand for beauty and joy. Like the Flamenco dance, the textures of the crackles stand for sorrow and pain in a beautifully expressive way. Once again, sorrow and joy are allowed to stand side by side without competition".
