She works sculpturally, mostly in ceramics, preferably with raku as a firing technique, but also loves to make monumental works when the opportunity arises, for example at Lokatta ceramics, Gotland and firing in their fantastic gas kiln for monumental works. She often gets her inspiration during forest walks not so much from what she sees, but from the thoughts, the ideas that flourish and the solutions to technical problems that appear. Another source of inspiration is pictures, stories and phenomena that come her way, but above all the animals themselves and their essence. Her focus is on animals and the climate. Maria's wish is that her sculptures should create contact or a feeling in the viewer, touch or frighten, as in her collaboration with photographer and artist Elisabeth Ubbe. _Maria has been an apprentice with sculptor Anita Brusewitz-Hansson for several years. In her ceramic works, she prefers the unglazed, matte expression that catches the light and enhances the form and expression.
