Collection: Björn Nordström
Björn prefers to use only acrylic paint, water and brushes in his painting and refrains from using any agents to mix or extend the drying time. Airbrush is also not used in his artistic process.
The artist strives to convey a subtle balance between the beautiful and the sad in his works. The emotion he explores is close to melancholy yet maintains a neutral tone, giving the viewer the freedom to interpret the works without the artist's guidance.
Björn's art mainly focuses on communicating emotions, and he creates his images based on those emotional experiences. By using light and shadows, he strives to create contrasts that enhance the feelings he wants to convey. The inspiration is often taken from facial expressions of people or from films with Ingmar Bergman-like characters, where he finds the emotions he wants to portray.
A quick look at Björn's paintings can give the impression of photographs, as his painting is meticulously detailed and perfect. He describes himself as something of a perfectionist and chooses to work with acrylic paint because of its ease of handling and quick drying. This preference sets him somewhat apart from other artists, many of whom use oil paint.
