Collection: Annethe H Østensen
Annethe H Østensen draws inspiration from the city's many walls and the varying structures and contents of its surfaces. By using painting and collage on canvas, Østensen creates his own artistic representations of walls. These works are colorful and full of details, which form small pieces of stories. At the same time, they include large white areas, in line with the Japanese aesthetic of mu – "empty rooms" – which creates room for interpretation and gives a harmonious feeling.
In the spring, when the snow melts and the days get longer, a lighter palette appears in Annethe H Østensen's artwork. The colors become more intense with hints of blue, orange, yellow and green. The changes of the seasons affect her artistry, and as a darker time approaches, her work tends to reflect more earthy tones and a darker expression. The artist thus captures not only surfaces and structures but also the mood and color shifts that surround her.
